Membership is open to everyone who wishes to support our Association. Whether St. Armands Key is your primary residence, vacation home, favorite place to vacation, or just a place you care passionately about, we welcome you! If you live, rent long-term, or own residential property on St. Armands, membership allows you to vote in Association matters. All others are considered associate members, what we call Friends of St. Armands, and enjoy all other membership benefits.
Members and Friends will receive our weekly email communications about local issues and events, have the opportunity to participate in our annual member survey, and will be invited to our social gatherings including our signature event: our Annual Dinner that we typically hold at the Sarasota Yacht Club in March.
It is important to point out that we are not an HOA. We can’t tell people what they can or cannot do with their property, and nor do we want to. We exist—as we have for over 70 years—as a non-profit, voluntary neighborhood association whose purpose is to grow the sense of community on St. Armands and among all the barrier island neighborhoods, and to represent resident interests to City government.
As developers and promoters try to leverage their connections to bypass normal City procedures and change zoning code for their own financial gain, our Association has worked hard to have resident interests represented in these matters, and this is well-documented on our website in the “issues” section.
We have a strong neighborhood association with approximately two thirds of the households on St. Armands participating, and with many supporters in surrounding neighborhoods as well. We invite you to join us and to become more engaged. Thank you very much for your support.
