Street Maintenance

The residential streets on St. Armands Key, and the sections of John Ringling Blvd and S Blvd of Presidents to the west and south of the Circle, respectively, are maintained by the City. But, the east and north roads leading to and from St. Armands Circle, and the Circle roundabout itself, are labeled as State Road 789 and shown on FDOT's online Right-of-Way map for Sarasota County as white with a black outline which the legend says is a "Divided State Highway" and not a local road.

March 22, 2023 excerpt from an email from the City Engineer in response to a resident inquiry:

Currently, the City does not have residential roadways on Lido Key or St. Armands scheduled in our 2023 citywide roadway resurfacing program. Our resurfacing projects are prioritized based on a pavement condition index (PCI) rating system.

Attached is a map displaying the rated pavement conditions of roadways on Lido Key and St. Armands, with the lowest scoring segments receiving labels. Please note that the lowest rated roadway, Tremont Ln, is a private Road; The second lowest rated roadway, Westway Pl, has recently been repaved. The average PCI rating of the roadways on Lido Key and St. Armands is 76. For comparison, the average PCI rating of the roadways in our 2023 resurfacing program is 59.

It’s anticipated that residential roadways on Lido Key and St. Armands will be scheduled as a priority for resurfacing in 2024-2025 based on budget and PCI rating. A 5-year citywide resurfacing plan is currently being developed based on the collected pavement condition index data and other factors, like disability access. With the completion of this plan in the coming weeks, we will be able to provide a more detailed answer regarding which streets will be resurfaced.

In summary, it is anticipated that residential roadways on Lido Key and St. Armands will be scheduled as a priority for resurfacing in 2024-2025. Please let me know if you have any questions.
